About the Fund
The Paul Mthimunye Bursary Fund is a self help scheme whose purpose is to assist needy and deserving high school learners and tertiary students in the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Mpumalanga Province. We fund students who are following Maths, Science, Accounting, Engineering, Law and other fields of study in keeping with the principle of supply and demand in the labour market.
The Chairperson of our Fundraising Committee is Mr M.J. Mahlangu who is the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces. The Bursary Fund started funding tertiary students in 2005. Up to now 24 students have qualified in the following fields of study: Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, B.Com Accounting, Information Technology, Internal Auditing, B. Pharmacy, B.Sc Metallurgy, Financial Information Systems and Medicine.
20 of these students are employed. The remaining 4 are most likely to be absorbed by the job market because of the scarce skills they possess. This year we are funding 60 high school learners and 13 tertiary students. In order to continue with this noble work we appeal for donations. Your donation will enable us to cope with the ever increasing costs of funding tertiary students.
The Bursary Fund enjoys the support of the private sector, individuals in the community, the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality and the Mpumalanga Provincial Education Department. Your support is highly valued in this noble endeavour to address the challenge of skills shortages in our country
